Narayanganj: A Narayanganj court on Tuesday granted bail for 60 days to Rafiur Rabbi, father of slain Twaki, also a convener of Santras Nirmul Tawki Mancha in a case filed for cheque fraudulence.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Court 1 Judge Mamunur Rashid passed the order after hearing the bail petition, on condition that Rabbi will file an appeal to the High Court against its verdict giving Rabbi one year’s jail.

Earlier on 24 June, the same court awarded Rabbi the jail term in the case.

The court also fined him Tk2.10 crore.

Court sources said one Jalaluddin, son of Sanuruddin, a resident of North Chashara, filed the case with Narayanganj Chief Judicial Magistrate Court against Rabbi accusing him of cheating over two cheques worth Tk 70 lakh in 2012.
