Habiganj: Four passengers of a boat were killed by a lightning strike at Azmirganj in Habiganj on Wednesday morning.

The deceased are Anujib Shutradhar, Prittwish Shutradhar, Pronen Shutradhar, and Musa Mia of Birat Bhatipara village.

Two people, Sohel Roy and Mohon Mia, were also injured by the lightning.

The witnesses said lighting struck a boat carrying around 12 people from Bhatipara village, who were travelling to Azmeriganj market, at about 11:30am on River Kushiara and left four of the passengers dead on the spot.

The Azmiriganj police recovered the bodies and handed over those to the relatives of the deceased.
