A Dhaka court on Wednesday remanded the Association of Television Channel Owners (ATCO) president, Mohammad Mosaddak Ali, also the chairman of NTV, on police custody for five more days.

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court gave the order in response to a custody appeal of the Mirpur police.

Earlier, at about 2:52pm Mosaddek Ali was placed before the court following a three-day police custody.

Mirpur police submitted a plea seeking 10-day to question the ATCO president.

Mosaddek Ali’s lawyer also appealed for bail considering the physical condition of his client.

Later the court granted five days to quiz the entrepreneur at police custody.

Mohammad Mosaddek Ali has been remanded in a case filed with Mirpur model police for the charges of 'planning, funding, instigating and ordering violence'.

On 1 February, Detective Branch held Alhaj Mohammad Mosaddek Ali from in front of Khaleda Zia’s political office at Gulshan at about 8:00pm.

Later, on 2 February, Mosaddek Ali was shown arrested in a case filed for hurling fire bomb at a Turag Paribahan bus on 30 January.

Great Turag Transport Company Limited owner Nazrul Islam filed the case with the Khilgaon police in explosives substance act.
