Patuakhali:  A Patuakhali court on Monday sent six people, including Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) president Rajib Ahsan, to jail, hours after their arrest in a case filed on charge of possessing drugs.

Patuakhali Senior Chief Judicial Magistrate SM Tarek Shams passed the order when police produced them before the court in the afternoon.

The court also fixed Tuesday for hearing the bail petition submitted by their lawyers.

Earlier, detectives arrested JCD president Rajib Ahsan and five others reportedly along with 45 Yaba tablets in a car at Lebukhali Ferryghat in Dumki upazila on Sunday night.

Dumki Police officer-in-charge Azam Khan filed a case against them under the Narcotics Control Act on Sunday night.

Rajib is accused in several other cases filed over subversive acts, the OC added.
