Sylhet: A housewife was hacked to death by miscreants at Daulatpur village in Bishwanath upazila in Sylhet on Sunday evening.

The deceased is Sujina Begum, 19, wife of UK expatriate Murad Ahmed, hailing from Satal village in the upazila.

Locals said four criminals entered the house of victim's father Abdur Rauf on Sunday evening with sweetmeat identifying them as Murad's friends.

However, they hacked Sujina and her mother Rezia Begum, in his forties, indiscriminately with sharp weapons at about 7:00pm, leaving them critically injured.

The injured were taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital where Sujina succumbed to her injuries at about 9:00pm.

Bishwanath Police officer-in charge Rafiqul Islam said they were investigating the incident.

Family sources said Sujina was married off to UK expatriate Murad, who has another wife in the UK, five months ago and she used to live at her father's house.

Sujina's family had altercation with that of Murad's first wife over the issue several times.
