Sirajganj: Five people, including two of a family, were killed and another was injured as a CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided with a bus at Mulibari level-crossing on the western side of Bangabandhu Bridge approach road in Sadar upazila on Monday night.

All the five deceased were the auto-rickshaw passengers from Belkuchi upazilla. The deceased were identified as Razzak, and his daughter Rosina, Anwar Hossain, Momtaz, and the auto rickshaw driver Arman.

The Bangabandhu Bridge west-side police said the accident occurred when a Chapainawabganj-bound bus of Shaymoli Paribahan from Narayanganj rammed the auto-rickshaw at about 12:30am killing five passengers of the auto-rickshaw on the spot.

The lone injured is Jakir Hossain, resident Chashara Balurmath area of Narayangonj. He was a passenger of the bus and was taken to Sirajganj General Hospital.

Police seized the bus but its driver fled the scene.

Earlier on 19 July, 17 people were killed at the same place when a Bogra-bound bus of Sabbir Paribahan from Chittagong collided with a Dhaka-bound bus of Azad Paribahan from Sayedpur.
