2 BNP men hurt in M’singh ‘gunfight’
Mymensingh: Two BNP activists sustained bullet injuries during a ‘gunfight’ with police in Khagdahar bypass crossing area of Mymensingh in early hours of Thursday.
The injured are Mehedi, a resident of Jamtala crossing, and Sharif Molla, a resident of Goailkandi of the town.
Police said on secret information, a team of police conducted a drive in the area to arrest saboteurs in the dead of night.
Sensing presence of police, the saboteurs opened fire at the law enforcers, prompting them to retaliate, triggering a gunfight.
Mehedi and Sharif Molla sustained bullet injuries during the gunfight.
Later, police arrested them while their associates managed to flee the spot.
The injured were admitted to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital under police custody.
Police also recovered a live crude bomb and a petrol bomb from the spot.
Kotwali model police officer-in-charge Fazlul Karim confirmed the incident.
