Probe body submits report over Rajon killing
Sylhet: The three-member probe committee of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) formed to investigate the allegations of negligence of duty by police during the killing incident submitted its report on Thursday night.
SMP Additional Commissioner SM Rokunuddin submitted the 424-page report to the commissioner’s office at about 11:30pm, said ADC (Media) Rahmatullah.
However, details of the report were not disclosed immediately.
Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) formed the three-member probe committee to investigate the allegations of negligence of duty of police during the killing incident, their economic deal with the killers and misbehaviour with the victim’s parents.
SMP formed the probe committee on 13 July making Additional Commissioner SM Rokunuddin its chief and Deputy Commissioner Mushfekur Rahman and Deputy Commissioner (South) Zedan Al Musa its members. The committee was asked to submit the report within three days. But it failed to do so within the stipulated time.
Later, the time for submission of the probe committee report was extended by five days to 23 July.
On 8 July, 13-year-old boy Sheikh Samiul Alam Rajon, son of Sheikh Azizur Rahman of Badeali village in Sadar upazila, was tortured to death over a theft incident at Sundar Ali Market in Kumargaon area of the city.
The killers themselves took the video footage of the incident and uploaded it on the internet.
