Sunamganj: Three people, including a woman and her daughter, died and another person went missing as a boat sank in Bheramohona Chatra haor in Shalla upazila of Sunamganj on Sunday.

The deceased are Roshna Akhter, in her thirties, her daughter Jony Akhter, 5, and another child Sony Akhter, 3, daughter of Sadiqur Rahman while the missing is Josna Akhter, in her thirties, wife of Kabir Miah. All the victims hail from Dhampur village in the upazila.

Locals said the boat carrying 11 people capsized in the Chatra haor at about 3:30 pm after it was caught in a storm while going to Dhampur from Ajmiriganj upazila of Habiganj district.

Three people died on the spot and another one went missing in the incident.

Shalla Police sub-inspector Jinnat confirmed the incident.
