2 still missing in trawler capsize
Munshiganj: Two of the three people who went missing after two trawlers capsized in Louhajang upazila on Saturday are still missing.
The two vessels carrying 60 people sank in the Padma River amid inclement weather.
Mawa police outpost in-charge Yunus Ali said Jahangir, in his twenties, one of the three victims, managed to swim ashore and reached his house.
The missing two are Sohel, in his twenties and a resident of Sudharpur village, and Zakir, believed to be 32, a resident of Chandpur village in Bhangura upazila of Pabna.
Police said the two sand-laden trawlers met with an accident at Kumarbhog at about 3:15pm due to strong currents in the river while heading towards a brick kiln at Pagla of Narayanganj from Madonkhali in Faridpur district.
Of the trawlers, one sank fully while the other partially.
Local people rescued about 60 people from the water.
