Netrakona: A Netrakona court on Monday sentenced a man to death for killing his father over land related dispute in 2006.

The condemned convict is Abdul Hekim, in his forties, a resident of Kutubpur in Kendua upazila of Netrakona.

According to the prosecution, an altercation ensued between Abdul Hekim and his father Budu Miah over a land related issue on 8 October, 2006.

At one stage, Hekim stabbed his father in with a sharp weapon, leaving him dead on the spot.

Later, police arrested Hekim with the help of local people.

Riton, nephew of the deceased, filed a murder case against Hekim.

Police submitted charge sheet against him on 30 November, 2006.

After examining the records and six witnesses, Additional District and Sessions Judge Abdul Hamid handed down the verdict on Monday.
