Khulna: Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) has formed a three-member probe body to investigate the killing of 12-year-old boy, Rakib, at Tutpara Central Road in the city of Khulna on Monday.

The probe body was formed on Wednesday with Additional Police Commissioner Mahbubul Hakim as its chief.

The other members of the probe body are Assistant Police Commissioner Maniruzzaman Mithu and Assistant Police Commissioner Humayun Kabir.

Meanwhile, 12 organisations, including human rights organisations, formed a human chain in Khulna on Wednesday morning protesting the incident.

Rakib, who used to work at a motorcycle garage at Tutpara Central Road in Khulna city, was tortured to death allegedly by his former employers over switching his job on Monday evening, only twenty six days after the murder of Rajon in brutal torture in Sylhet.

Police and family members said Rakib used to work as a motor worker at Minto’s Motorcycle Garage. Recently he quitted the job and joined another garage in the area.

Following this, the owner of ‘Sahrif Motorcycle Garage’ and his brother Mintu brought Rakib forcefully to the garage and confined him in the evening. The duo then pressed the hose of an air compressor machine to the backside of minor boy and tried to pump air into his body.

At one stage, Rakib’s belly was inflated with air and he started vomiting.

Later, Sharif and Mintu took Rakib to a local clinic at about 10:30am and tried to flee away from the scene. But locals caught the torturers and handed them over to the local police station.

In the meantime, the authorities of the local clinic denied to admit Rakib for treatment.

Later, Rakib was taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital by his father.

As his condition deteriorated, Rakib was being shifted Dhaka while he succumbed his injuries on the way.

Alam Haldar, father of the deceased, filed a case with Sadar Police Station against three, including Sharif, Mintu and a woman, on Tuesday.

The identity of the woman could not be known immediately.

Critical injured Sharif and Mintu were shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital Prison Cell for treatment.

Officer-in charge of Khulna Sadar Police station Sukumar Biswas confirmed about the incident.

Earlier on 8 July, 13-year-old boy Sheikh Samiul Alam Rajon, son of Sheikh Azizur Rahman of Badeali village in sadar upazila, was brutally tortured to death over theft at Sundar Ali Market in Kumargaon area of Sylhet city.
