Barguna: A man on Thursday confessed to killing 10-year-old boy Rabiul Awal, who was found dead by a canal at the village of Amkhola at Taltala in Barguna on Tuesday.

Police said Mohammad Miraz gave confessional statement to Amtali Senior Judicial Magistrate Baijayanta Biswas’s court at about 10:00am on Thursday.

The Barguna police refused to give details on the confession made by Miraz for the sake of investigation.

Rabiul Awal was a Class IV student of a local seminary. His father, Dulal Mridah, identified his body after relatives had informed the family about the boy’s death.

Later, on Wednesday police detained Mohammad Miraz, in his twenties, on suspicion of his involvement in the killing.
