Noakhali: A local Juba League leader was hacked to death by miscreants at Deuti village in Sonaimuri upazila on early Saturday.

The deceased is Milon Sarkar,in his thirties, organising secretary of Deuti union of Juba League.

Witnesses said a group of miscreants swooped on Milon in the area when he went out of his house for catching fish at about 1:00 am.

Later, the attackers hacked Milon with sharp weapons and fled the scene, leaving him dead on the spot.

Informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Noakhali Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Sonaimuri Police officer-in-charge Joydeb Kumar Chowdhury confirmed the killing.
