Police shot and wound two 'bombers'
Jaydebpur police on Friday shot and wounded two persons who were allegedly planning to conduct firebomb attacks on vehicles at Shibbari intersection in Gazipur.
Later the duo was taken to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital under police custody.
The detainees, however, claimed they are human hauler drivers by profession and alleged that police had held them over a row centring vehicle parking.
According to police account, the detainees are Roman, a resident of Tankirpar of the town, and Nasir Uddin who is from Munshipara. Roman is reportedly in his early thirties while Nasir is said to be 24 years of age.
Police claimed to have recovered two firebombs, a knife, and a matchbox from their possession.
'Police shot fires at them when they were trying to hurl firebombs at a bus,' Jaidevpur police officer-in-charge Khandakar Rezaul Hasan told NTV Online.
Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital residential medical officer Abdus Salam confirmed about finding wounds on their legs.
'After primary treatment they were sent to National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation,' Salam added.
