Sylhet: An activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was killed in a factional clash at Madanmohan College in Sylhet on Wednesday.

The victim is Ali Ahmed, 19, a 2nd year student of the college from Shilam village in Dakkhin Surma upazila.

Sources said Ali was an activist of Bidhan Saha group of Madanmohon College unit of BCL.

The infighting ensued following an altercation between two rival groups of BCL over establishing supremacy on the college campus at about 12:00pm.

At one stage, rival group members took Ali to the 1st floor of the academic building of the college and stabbed him indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured.

Later, he was rushed to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at about 2:40pm.

Police officer-in-charge (investigation) said police arrested one Ruhul in this connection.
