Abducted minor boy rescued in Nilphamari
Gazipur: Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members on Thursday rescued a five-year-old boy, who was abducted from Gazipur on 11 August, from Dimla upazila of Nilfamari district and arrested two persons in this connection.
The minor boy was identified as Abdur Rahman Riyad, 5, son of Abu Bakar Siddique, a resident of Kolemeshwar in Joydebpur upazila of Gazipur district.
The arrestees are Jahidul Islam Jahid of Boda upazila of Panchagarh district and Sakhina Begum of Golna Mastar Para village in Jaldhaka upazila of Nilfamari district.
Additional superintendent of police Akramul Hossain, also the company commander of Crime Prevention Company-2 of Rab-13, said Jahid, on 11 August, abducted Riyad from his home.
Later, Jahid demanded Tk 10 lakh as ransom from Riyad’s family and threatened to sell Riayd to India if his demand is not met.
Following the incident, victim’s father Abu Bakar filed an abduction case with Joydebpur Police Station on that day and informed Rab-1 about the matter.
Tracking the references of mobile phone calls, RAB members on Thursday rescued Riyad from Tasirer Para village in Dimla upazila of Nilfamari district and arrested the duo.
