Sylhet: Activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Pranajit Das reportedly made a confessional statement before a court in Sylhet on Saturday over the killing of a fellow activist at Madanmohan College on Wednesday.

Judge Anwarul Haque of Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate Court-3 recorded the statement of Pranajit under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).

Kotowali police officer-in-charge Mosharof Hossain, also the investigation officer of the case, produced him before the court at noon.

In his statement, the accused described before the court why they killed their fellow Ali Ahmed.

Earlier on Thursday, the court placed Pranajit Das on police custody for two days in the case.

Victim’s father Aklis Miah filed the case against the five BCL activists, including Pranajit, and 3-4 unidentified people with Kotwali Police Station on Thursday.

Two BCL men–Pranajit and Angur Miah–were arrested in connection with the murder.

BCL activist Ali Ahmed, 19, a 2nd year student of the college, and son of Aklis Mia of Shilam village in Dakkhin Surma upazila, was killed in a factional clash at Madanmohan College in Sylhet city on Wednesday.
