Chittagong: One ‘blockader’ was died while four other gets bullet wounds in a gunfight with law enforcers at Sitakunda upazila in Chittagong on Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Arif, 25.

Sitakunda police officer-in-charge Iftekhar Hasan told NTV online that a group of people were trying to block the highway in Nunachhara area at Dhaka – Chittagong highway at about 9:00 pm on Saturday. 

‘When police barred, they started firing on police. Police also fired back leaving five of them injured,’ said the OC.

The five injured were sent to the Chittagong Medical College Hespital, said the OC.

On arrival, doctors declared Arif as dead, confirmed CMCH emergency unit doctor Rajib Palit.

The four injured persons, who also received bullet wounds, are Nurul Hadi, Parvez, Rubel and Sohel.

Police have recovered 10 crude bombs, a lightning gun, two firebombs, and two kilogram of petrol from their possession, claimed the OC.
