Ctg transport worker leader Nurul rescued
Chittagong: Two days after he was kidnapped by some miscreants from the Bandartilla area of Chittagong, transport worker leader Nurul Islam was rescued from Mirersarai upazila of the district on Friday night.
Assistant superintendent of police of District Special Branch (DSB) Robiul Islam said a team of Jorarganj Police Station in the upazila rescued Nurul Islam from Baroiharhat bus stand at about 8:15pm.
Some miscreants identifying them as law enforcers picked up Nurul Islam, general secretary of City Human-hauler Workers’ Association, from Bandartilla under EPZ Police Station on Wednesday night when he was returning home.
Later, Bangladesh Sarak Paribahan Sramik Federation enforced an indefinite transport strike in greater Chittagong from 6:00pm on Thursday demanding that the transport worker leader be rescued unhurt.
Later on Thursday night, it, however, postponed the strike until 4:00pm on Friday following assurance from the administration to rescue Nurul Islam.
