Gazipur: Two people were killed and four others injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Tangail Highway in Kaliakoir upazila of Gazipur on Monday.

The deceased is Tofail Ahmed, in his fifties, of Manikganj district, and motorcyclist Mozammel Hossain, in his thirties, of Tangail district.

Konabari Highway police officer-in-charge Daud Hossain said a Dhaka-bound fish laden pickup van from Sirajganj plunged into a ditch after hitting Tofail and Mozammel on the road at Chandra at about 3:45pm, leaving both dead on the spot and four others injured.

The injured were taken to a local hospital.
