3 charged in Rakib murder case

Khulna: Police on Tuesday framed charges against three people in a case filed over the killing of 12-year-old boy Rakib after torture by his former employer over quitting job.
Sub-inspector Kazi Mushtaq Ahmed, also the investigation officer of the case, submitted the chargesheet with the Metropolitan Magistrate court at about 1:00pm.
The chargesheeted accused are Mohammad Sharif, Mintu Mia and Sharif’s mother Beauty Begum.
On 3 August, Rakib, who used to work at a motorcycle garage at Tutpara Central Road in Khulna city, was tortured to death allegedly by his former employer over quitting job.
Alam Haldar, victim’s father, filed a case with Sadar police against three people—Sharif, Mintu and Beauty Begum—after the killing.
Later, Mintu Khan, a so-called uncle of Mohammad Omar Sharif, the prime accused in the case, reportedly confessed to his crime before a local court on 13 August while Sharif made his confessional statement on 12 August and his mother Beauty Begum, also an accused in the case, confessed to her involvement in the incident on 6 August.
On 5 August, Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) formed a three-member probe body to investigate the brutal killing of the boy.
The probe body was formed with Additional Police Commissioner Mahbubul Hakim as its chief.
