BSMMU opens burn unit
Dhaka: Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) launched a burn unit in its hospital on Sunday morning to ensure better treatment for burn victims.
BSMMU vice-chancellor Pran Gopal Datta inaugurated the unit on the ground floor of the hospital’s Cabin Block.
An expert team will remain on duty for 24-hour in three shifts to provide treatment to the patients, said a BSMMU press release.
At present, the burn unit has a total of 10 beds, which will be increased gradually in accordance with the demand of patients.
Treatment at the burn unit will be given free of cost, the press release added.
BSMMU pro-vice-chancellor (administration) Mohammod Shahidullah, pro-vice-chancellor (academic) Ruhul Amin Miah, pro- vice-chancellor (research and development) Shahidullah Sikder and hospital director Brigadier General (Retd) Abdul Majid Bhuiyan, among others, were present at the inauguration ceremony.
