Pirojpur: An elderly man was stabbed to death and his brother injured in an attack by his rivals over previous enmity at Purba Kadamtala village in Sadar upazila of Pirojpur on early Tuesday.

The deceased is Delwar Hossain, in his sixties, a resident of the village.

Sadar police sub-inspector (Investigation) Kazi Mahmudul Hasan said a group of people swooped on Delwar Hossain and his brother Babul Sheikh when the siblings went out of their house for catching fish at about 12:30am.

At one stage, the attackers stabbed the duo indiscriminately with sharp weapons, leaving them critically injured.

Later they were rushed to Pirojpur Adhunik Hospital where on-duty doctors declared Delwar dead.

Babul was shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) as his condition deteriorated.

Police detained three people–Nasim Uddin Sheikh, Masum and Shakib–of the village, for interrogation in connection with the killing.
