Sylhet: At least 30 people were injured in a clash with miscreants during a robbery on a bus at Burni in Companiganj upazila of Sylhet on Thursday night.

Local people said when a Dhaka-bound MR Paribahan bus from Tukerbazar reached near Katakhal Bridge at Burni, a group of miscreants opened fire at the bus at about 10:30pm in a bid to stop it, leaving 15 of its passengers injured with bullets.

Later the robbers stormed into the bus and robbed passengers at gunpoint.

Fifteen more passengers were injured in scuffling with the bandits.

Condition of seven of the bullet-wounded was stated to be critical.

The injured were taken to Companiganj Upazila Health Complex and Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.

A team of Companiganj police went to the spot to investigate the incident.
