Khulna: A 14-year-old boy was reportedly stabbed to death while trying to protect his sister from an assaulter at Dumuria in Khulna in the early hours of Friday.

The deceased Foysal Mollick was a class VIII student of Moukhali Secondary School of Ulapara.

Four other people were also injured during the incident.

Local people held the assaulter, Mizanur Rahman, believed to be 23 years old, and handed him over to police.

The body was sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.

The injured — Foysal’s father Rashid Mollick, uncles Mozammel Sarder, Mohasin Sarder, and cousin Imran Mollick — were admitted to Dumuria Health Complex.

Imran Mollick said Mizan used to harass his sister on her way to school. He made unwanted visits to her home and teased her several times.

Mizan intruded Foysal’s house on Thursday night and hid himself in the study room. Foysal started shouting when he saw Mizan. The intruder stabbed Foysal with knife, leaving the minor boy died on the spot. Mizan escaped the scene after stabbing four more people.

Later, local people chased Mizan and held him.

The Dumuria police said a case will be filed in this connection.
