Jhenaidah: Police recovered the body of a woman, who had remained missing from Thursday night, from a pond at Borai village in Kaliganj upazila of Jhenaidah on Friday morning.

The deceased is Beauty Rani Das, in her thirties, wife of Gopal Chandra Biswas of the village.

Beauty Rani was married with Gopal Chandra about 16 years back but they had no child.

Neighbours said Beauty had an altercation with her husband on Thursday night over his second marriage.

Locals found the body of Beauty floating in the pond and informed police.

They also found a bottle of poison on the bank on the pond.

Kaliganj police officer-in-charge Zahir Uddin said, police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
