One held for possible financing of militant organisation
Chittagong: Rapid Action Battalion on Saturday arrested a person on charge of financing an Islamist militant organisation.
Enamul Haque was arrested by a team of RAB‑7 based in Chittagong as he had allegedly donated Tk 16 lakh to Shahid Hamza Brigade, RAB‑7 Assistant Police Superintendent Sohel Mahmud confirmed.
The elite force, however, refused to give details about the arrestee.
A RAB‑7 official said details would be delivered a press conference timetabled to be held at Patenga office of the force.
Earlier on 18 August, RAB arrested three Supreme Court lawyers — Shakila Farzana, Mahfuz Chowdhury Bapan and Hasanuzzaman Liton — on charge of possible financing of the militant organisation.
Police took them to custody for interrogation. They on 23 August gave confessional statements to Chittagong Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate.
They are now in police custody.
