Sirajganj: Two people were killed and 27 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck at Kashem Intersection on the west side of Bangabandhu link road in Kamarkhand upazila on Sunday.

The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Hatikumrul Highway police sub-inspector Ashrafuzzaman said, the North Bengal-bound bus of ‘Dipjol Paribahan’ from Dhaka collided head on with the truck coming from the opposite direction at about 5:45pm, leaving two people dead on the spot and 27 others injured.

The injured were rushed to Sirajganj General Hospital.

On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to the hospital morgue.

Following the accident, a 25-kilometer long tailback was created on both sides of the highway stretching from Nalka area to Kadda Mor, forcing the vehicles to use alternative road, said police.
