2 get life term each for kidnapping schoolgirl
Narayanganj: A Narayanganj court on Sunday sentenced two young men to life term imprisonment each in a case of kidnapping a schoolgirl in Siddhirganj upazila of Narayanganj in 2005.
The convicts are Rasel, aged 23, and Jamir Hossain, who is around 25 years old, both residents of Jalkuri village of the upazila.
The court also fined them Tk 10,000 each, in default, one month’s imprisonment.
According to the prosecution, Rasel and Jamir Hossain kidnapped Ripa Akter, an 11 years old girl, a class VI student of Jalkuri High School and daughter of Abdul Malek of the same village, while she was returning home from school on 4 August, 2005.
Police later rescue Ripa from the kidnappers.
The victim’s father Abdul Malek filed a case against the duo with Siddhirganj police.
After examining the witnesses and the records, Judge of Women and Children Oppression Prevention Tribunal KM Rasheduzzaman Raja handed down the verdict.
