Sirajganj: Fourteen people were jailed for life Monday on charge of killing a farmer at Ullahpara in Sirajganj in 2012.

The convicts are Fazlul, 45, Marzina, 40, Kuddus, 50, Ashraful, 27, Aminul, 27, Momin, 18, Bisha, 30, Babar, 50, Rejaul, 22, Shamsul, 40, Belal, 48, Bablu, 45, Haidar, 28, and Ainal, 25 of Putia village in Ullahpara upazila.

According to the prosecution, the convicts chopped Nurul to death with sharp weapons at Putia village in the upazila on June 28 in 2012 following enmity over the ownership of a piece of land.

Victim’s son Tofail Hossain filed a case against 14 people with Ullahpara Police Station on the same day.

Later, police submitted a charge sheet against the 14 accused to a court.

After examining the witnesses and documents, additional district and sessions judge Eman Ali gave the verdict in the presence of the accused.
