BCL activists embroil in violence on hospital premises in Sylhet

Sylhet: Six activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) were injured as guards of a local private medical hospital attacked them on Tuesday.
The injured are Raju, Sabbir, Shawkat, Safayet, Ahmed Hossain and Shafkat, activists of BCL.
Sources said BCL activist Safayet went to Ragib Medical College Hospital seeking treatment for one of his relatives at noon on Tuesday.
When he tried to enter the emergency unit of the medical, guards of the hospital obstructed them and beat Safayet.
On information, other BCL activists rushed to the hospital to inform the hospital authority.
Nazmul Islam, the principal of the hospital misbehaved with them and ordered guards to beat them up. Following the order, the guards attacked them, which left six injured.
Following the incident Juba league, Chhatra League activists and local people attacked the hospital.
They shattered the glass of different buildings and vandalised a microbus.
On information, police rushed to the spot and fired several rubber bullets and tear shells to bring the situation under control.
By the interference of Kamrul Hasan, officer-in-charge of Jalalabad Police Station, the law enforcers brought the situation under control after giving the BCL and Jubo Legaue activists assurances of proper investigation.
They also gave an ultimatum to suspend the hospital principal within 24 hours.
