Case filed against Khaleda
Dhaka: A case was filed against Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia and 14 others on Tuesday for allegedly bombing a procession near Khaleda Zia’s office in Gulshan 2 in Dhaka.
Alkara union chairman Ismail Hossain Bacchu filed the case with Gulshan police at about 9:30pm on Monday. The union is under Chauddagram upazila in Comilla, about 111 kilometres away from Dhaka.
Khaleda Zia’s special aide Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas and press secretary Maruf Kamal Khan were also named in the case.
Gulshan police sub-inspector Firoz Kabir was appointed as the investigation officer of the case.
The Gulshan police said the procession was attacked at Gulshan 2 on Monday as workers-employees-professionals co-ordinating council brought out a procession led by Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan to surround the office of Khaleda Zia in protest at countywide indefinite blockade imposed by BNP-led 20-Party Alliance.
Police said several people were injured in the bomb attack.
