Chittagong City Corporation elections will be held on the first week of June and all activities will be ended before mid-June, said Election Commission secretary Sirajul Islam on Tuesday.
The secretary also said that elections date for two cities in Dhaka—Dhaka South City Corporation and Dhaka North City Corporation, will be announced later after the issuance of noitces on boundary demarcation.
Sirajul Islam was briefing journalists at the commission in Dhaka.
A notice was published on boundary demarcation of a ward in Dhaka South city, but the commission was yet to receive any copy of the notice, said Sirajul Islam.
‘The commission has the preparation to hold Dhaka city elections,’ said Sirajul Islam.
He added that the commission had logistic preparations to hold polls in two Dhaka cities but had no fund.
Election schedules for two cities in Dhaka will be issued considering the ‘public exams and present situation’, the EC secretary said.
