Narayanganj: A Narayanganj court on Tuesday sentenced two persons to death and awarded another with 7 years of jail for killing a woman and her son at Araihazar in Narayanganj.

The court also imposed Tk50, 000 fine and handed over six months of imprisonment if the convicts do not pay the monetary penalty.

Narayanganj additional district and session court 1 Judge Shahidul Alam announced the verdict on Tuesday morning.

The convicts who get death penalty are Abul Hossain alias Koshai Kashem, and Dulal Hossain while Babul Hossain was awarded with a seven-year imprisonment.

Babul Hossain is absconding.

The court said Kashem and Babul took a woman and his son to Shashanghat area of Araihajar while she was asking for financial help at Darigaon area on 5 March, 2011. The convicts molested the woman and later strangled her to death as local people found the incident.

The woman’s son cried out as he saw his mother dead. Dulal Hossain hit the child with a spade and killed him.

The convicts buried the bodies in an abandon hole in Darigaon graveyard area.

However, later police recovered the bodies.

A case filed with Araihazar police in this connection.
