Barisal: A special court in Barisal on Monday convicted a man and sentenced him to 17 years’ imprisonment for possessing firearms and ammunition.
The convict was identified as Sujon Sardar, a resident of Charamandi area in Bakerganj upazila.

According to the prosecution, tipped off, a team of police arrested Sujon along with a light gun, a shutter gun and three bullets from Harinapasha area under Airport Police Station on 24 January 2013.

Airport police sub-inspector Abul Khayer filed a case against him with the police station.
After examining the records and witnesses, Special Tribunal-2 Judge Adib Ali handed down the verdict.
