Chandpur: A mobile court on Sunday sentenced a union council member to six months’ imprisonment for taking Yaba tablets in Hajiganj upazila of Chandpur.

The convict is Soleman Miji, member of ward no 7 of Sadar upazila.

The Hajiganj police said a team of police arrested Soleman from Bakila rail crossing area in the upazila in night while he was taking Yaba tablets.

Later, the arrestee was produced before the court of executive magistrate Murshidul Islam who handed downed the verdict.
