17 held on way back from India
Benapole: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested 17 Bangladeshis while they were entering the country through Putkhali border point in Benapole on Monday, after going to India illegally.
The arrestees are from different areas of Bagerhat, Narail and Faridpur.
BGB Battalion 23 Putkhali camp commander Shafiuddin said on secret information, a team of the border force conducted a drive in the area at about 8:30pm and arrested the 17 Bangladeshis, including six women and one child, while they were trying to enter the Bangladesh territory during their return from India without valid documents.
Later, BGB troops handed them over to Benapole Port police.
A case was filed in this connection.
