USAID hosted workshop to enhance skills of health reporters in Chattogram
Today, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) organised the second in a series of workshops to enhance the quality of development reporting for Bangladeshi journalists. This training was provided to the journalists working on health and nutrition related issues in Chattogram division, Bangladesh.
Reporters from print, electronic and online media attended the workshop that was facilitated by award-winning journalist and producer Bandruddoza Babu, Head of Investigative Journalism Help Desk. Subject matter experts from USAID’s office Population, Health, Nutrition and Education also spoke at the workshop.
This second workshop focused on reporting on health issues in Bangladesh and highlighted the importance of factual reports during COVID-19 pandemic. The journalists discussed the important role media plays in communicating awareness and combating health issues and effective techniques to report on social issues.
Through these workshops, USAID will deepen Bangladeshi journalists’ understanding of key development issues, enhance their ability to identify newsworthy stories & write analytical reports. Reporters will also become familiar with USAID-funded development programs in Bangladesh. USAID will complete similar workshops, both online and in person, in eight divisions across the country.
