Bangladesh to export Cassava to New Zealand
Dhaka: Bangladesh has got a new product in its export basket as a food processor and agribusiness company has bagged its maiden export order for Cassava worth around $ 3 million from New Zealand.
Officials of the company, PRAN, said Cassava is a popular and nutritious food in New Zealand.
‘We’ve secured a contract with Khan`s 2nd Generation Ltd, the order value of which is around Tk 23 crore,’ said Md Mizanur Rahman, the chief of export at PRAN.
‘It’ll generate more foreign currency for our country,’ he added.
Importer Mustafezur Khan said, ‘Earlier, we used to take Cassava from Fiji. But Bangladesh’s Cassava quality, taste and colour are good. So, we’ve decided to take Cassava from PRAN.’
