Dhaka: Industries minister Amir Hossain Amu on Wednesday directed the authorities concerned to finalise the National Standard (Product and Services) Policy 2015 to ensure the standard of Bangladeshi products so that these could compete in the global market.

‘Guidance must be given in the policy so that the standard of products could be ensured considering global competitive market,’ he told a high-level meeting at his ministry.

Industries secretary M Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan and senior officials of different ministries, the Bangladesh Accreditation Board and the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) were present at the meeting.

The draft of the National Standard (Product and Services) 2015 was presented at the meeting seeking opinion on the draft policy.  

The National Standard (Product and Services) 2015 is being prepared under the Better Work for Standard Programme (BWSP) with support from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
