Dhaka: Festival allowance and salary of workers in readymade garments and other industries have to be paid on 5 September and within 10 September.

The decision was made on Thursday at the 32nd meeting of Crisis Management Core Committee (CMCC) held at Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments (DIFE) in Dhaka with State Minister for Labour and Employment Mujibul Haque in the chair.

Mujibul Haque said BGMEA, BKMEA, BTMEA and leaders of different trade unions had agreed with the decision to pay the Eid bonus before five days of the Eid-ul-Azha and salary of August within 10 Septembe.

‘Labourers have been celebrating Eid with enthusiasm in last few years and they would celebrate next Eid in same manner,’ he said.

The state minister also requested the owners to allow Eid holidays to the workers on the basis of discussion for the convenience of movement as well as keep production on.

Labour and Employment Secretary Mikail Shipar, DIFE Inspector General Syed Ahmed, Labour Director ASM Ashrafuzzaman, BGMEA President Siddikur Rahman, BKMEA Representative Mostafa Jamal Pasha, Jatiya Shramik League President Shukkur Mahmud and officials concerned, among others, were present.
