Dhaka: State-owned Bangladesh Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union Ltd, popularly known as Milk Vita, made a profit of over Tk 18 crore last fiscal year (2015-16).

This information was disclosed at a review meeting on Milk Vita activities held at Dugdha Bhaban, Tejgaon, in the capital on Saturday.

Chaired by Milk Vita chairman Sheikh Nadir Hossain, the meeting was addressed, among others, by State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Mashiur Rahman Ranga, Milk Vita managing director Zakir Hossain and cooperatives registrar Mofizul Islam.

They said Milk Vita collects 14,000 litres milk from cooperative farmers of the country a day and supplies to the market after processing, which meets the country’s milk demand.

Warning Milk Vita officials that no irregularity will be tolerated in the cooperatives, Ranga urged them to work sincerely to bring the lost glory of Milk Vita.
