20 Malaysian firms eager to invest in Bangladesh: BMCCI
Dhaka: At least 20 Malaysian companies have shown interest to invest in Bangladesh’s various sectors in the coming days that will help boost trade and investment ties between the two countries.
“We’re closely working with them for further partnership,” President of Bangladesh Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) President Md Alamgir Jalil told reporters on Saturday while sharing the outcome of the recently held investment summit in Kuala Lumpur.
Malaysian High Commissioner in Dhaka Nur Ashikin Mohd Taib, former BMCCI President and Chairman of Bangladesh Trade and Investment Summit 2016 organising committee Syed Nurul Islam, BMCCI Vice President Syed Almas Kabir, Secretary General Shabbir Ahmed Khan, Treasurer MA Bakar, and former President Syed Moazzam Hossain also spoke at the press conference.
The BMCCI president said there were several B2B discussions and many of them are under execution. “It was very exciting that two MoUs were signed for joint venture investment on real estate and solar energy. Bangladesh export to Malaysia is expected to increase 10-15,” he said.
The BMCCI leaders said the BMCCI is going to organise Showcase Malaysia 2017 on September 21-23 next year in Dhaka to further drives this investment opportunities and promote bilateral trade.
It is expected that a few hundred enterprises, business houses, investors will participate in the Showcase Malaysia 2017.
Representatives from City Bank Limited, Green Delta Insurance Company Limited and K-Link International (Bangladesh) Limited, Robi Axiata Limited, Premier Bank Limited, BBS Cables Ltd, Design Vision Associates Limited, Well Foods Limited, Alliant and Tenaga Nasional Berhad were also present.
