Monjurul, Afzal new chairman, VC of Islami Bank Foundation

Dhaka: Former Secretary Syed Monjurul Islam and Islamic Foundation Bangladesh Director General Shamim Mohammad Afzal have been elected new chairman and vice-chairman of Islami Bank Foundation respectively.
A meeting of the Board of Directors of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited held at a city hotel on Thursday elected them, said a press release on Friday.
Syed Monjurul Islam, former Health and Family Welfare secretary, was the chairman of Bakhrabad Gas System Ltd, Jamuna Petroleum Ltd and Standard Asiatic Oil Co.
He also served as director of different government institutions, including Bangladesh Shilpo Bank (now BDBL), IFIC Bank, National Housing & Finance Ltd, BTCL, Industrial Promotion Development Co and Bangladesh Shipping Co.
Shamim Mohammad Afzal is the Director General of Islamic Foundation Bangladesh and a director of IBBL. He was the judge of Speedy Trial Tribunal in Sylhet.
Earlier, he discharged his duties as a District and Session’s Judge from 1983 to 2008. He worked as Legal Officer of Special Trial and the Law Ministry.
