3-day Bangladesh Tea Expo kicks off
Dhaka: Country’s first ever exposition on tea titled Bangladesh Tea Expo 2017 has kicked off at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka on Thursday.
After showcasing the history, culture and heritage of Bangladeshi tea industry, the three-day event, which is being hosted by the Bangladesh Tea Board, will end on 14 January.
Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith inaugurated the expo at Hall-2 of ICCB as the chief guest while Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed and State Minister for Finance and Planning MA Mannan were present as special guests.
In the three-day long event, workers from the tea gardens in Bandarban, Dinajpur and Panchagarh are set to present their culture.
The main objective of the expo is to promote Bangladeshi tea both at home and abroad.
Alongside the seminar on tea and workshops, local popular singers will perform in every evening. Singer Partha Barua, Bappa Majumder, Fahmida Nabi, Pervez, Kona, Salma, Elita Karim, SHuvo DRoots, Linkon (Artcell) are likely to perform in the event.
A theme song, which has already hit the Facebook and YouTube, is set to be presented by eminent singers at the event.
Bangladesh Tea Sangshad, City Group, Duncan Brothers, Finley Tea, HRC, Ispahani and Seylon Tea will be co-sponsors in the expo.
Visitors would be able to enjoy all presentations at the expo through free registrations through online. The fair will remain open from 10:00am to 10:00pm every day.
