20 Malaysian firms to invest in Bangladesh: BMCCI
Dhaka: President of Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) Md Alamgir Jalil on Tuesday said at least 20 Malaysian companies are going to invest in Bangladesh.
The interest was expressed during the Bangladesh Trade & Investment Summit 2016 held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in December last, he said.
Meanwhile, two MoUs were signed for the joint venture investment on real estate and solar energy where Bangladesh’s export to Malaysia is expected to increase by 10-15 percent, said Jalil.
A BMCCI delegation, led by Jalil, submitted an MoU to Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal during a courtesy call at his office in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the city on Tuesday.
The BMCCI President informed that they are going to organise the “5th Showcase Malaysia 2017” in Dhaka on September 21-23 next to further drive this investment opportunities and promote bilateral trade.
The BMCCI has urged the Planning Ministry to consider their several issues, including taking initiative to arrange a World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) meeting in Bangladesh.
It also sought ministry’s help for successful holding of the 5th Showcase Malaysia 2017 in Dhaka.
BMCCI Vice-president Syed Almas Kabir, Secretary General Shabbir Ahmed Khan, Joint Secretary General Jahurul Islam Chowdhury, Treasurer MA Bakar and Secretary Hasanur Rahman Chowdhury were present at the meeting.
