Uniform Shariah system for all Islamic banks stressed
Dhaka: Newly elected Chairman of Islamic Banks Consultative Forum (IBCF) Arastoo Khan has stressed the need for practising uniform Shariah compliance and accounting system for all banks providing Islami banking services in the country.
He came up with the remarks at a meeting of the forum held recently, said a press release on Sunday.
The Task Committee of IBCF was reconstituted with Md Abdul Hamid Miah, Managing Director & CEO of Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd, as its chairman and Dr Mohammed Haider Ali Miah, Managing Director & CEO of EXIM Bank, and Sayed Waseque Md Ali, Managing Director & CEO of First Security Islami Bank, as co-chairmen.
The meeting decided to hold a national seminar on "Islamic Banking" on June 10 next in the city.
Major (retd) Dr Md Rezaul Haque, Chairman of Social Islami Bank Ltd; Engineer Mohammad Towhidur Rahman, Chairman of Shahjalal Islami Bank; Rumee A Hossain, Chairman of Executive Committee of Bank Asia; Ihsanul Aziz, Managing Director (CC) of Social Islami Bank Ltd; Mohammad Shahjahan, Additional Managing Director of Southeast Bank Ltd; Kazi Towhidul Alam, Deputy Managing Director of Al-Arafah Islami Bank Ltd; and Shahjahan Shiraj, Deputy Managing Director of Shahjalal Islami, were, among others, present at the meeting.
