Bangladesh to face no gas crisis after 2018: Muhith

Sylhet: Finance minister AMA Muhith on Wednesday said there will be no crisis of gas in the country after 2018. 

"The country will be able to overcome the gas crisis gradually and after 2018, there will be no crisis of gas," the finance minister told

the opening session of the 50 years celebration programme of Sylhet Chamber here. 

Highlighting the country's investment potential and progress, Muhith said there is enormous scope for investment in the country.

Sylhet and Chittagong are very potential areas for investment, he said, adding that the government has been working to develop communication system to boost local and foreign investment in the country. 

Muhith said the present government has been establishing an IT city in Sylhet's Companyganj. Tourism is gradually expanding in Sylhet region, he said, adding that Sylhet is also a suitable place for setting up paper and leather industries. 

Sylhet Chamber president Salah Uddin Ali Ahmad presided over the event while Mahmud Us Samad Chowdhury, Dr AK Abdul Momen, Nasir A Chowdhury, Chairman of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Hafiz Ahmed Majumder , first vice-president of FBCCI Md Saiful Islam Mohiuddin, Sheikh Fazle Fahim, British-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce president Bashir Ahmad and Dr Ahmad Al Kabir, among others, spoke on the occasion.
