Dhaka:The workers of Swan Garments and Swan Jeans will continue their indefinite sit-in programme in front of Jatiya Press Club in the city even amid Eid-ul-Fitr celebration on Saturday demanding payment of their outstanding wages.

Workers of Swan Garments (Pvt.) Ltd and Swan Jeans Ltd have been demonstrating from 12 July demanding payment of three month’s outstanding wages to all the 1,300 workers of the two factories before Eid-ul-Fitr.

Their calls are likely to fall on deaf ears as the factories suspended their operations on 10 April. The owner, a Hong Kong national, fled the country three days later.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Garment Workers’ Trade Union Centre said the sit-in programme of the apparel workers will continue during Eid-ul-Fitr celebration on Saturday and the next course of actions of the protesters will be declared from a press conference there at 3:00pm.
